December 6, 2008 SETRA Hare Scramble - Little Brown Jug
Dad said he wanted two Overalls for his Birthday. Grant had already gotten his on Saturday, so I knew I’d better get my butt in gear.
I was 4th in the first corner. By the second corner, I was in 2nd. Lee Hallman & I went in the woods nose to tail. A mile into the woods I was right behind him when I saw the perfect line & passed him . I was 2 feet out front and he was set up for the inside line with me on the outside; but my line turned into a turn-around spot, so I went straight into the trees where I stayed caught up while the whole class passed me. I thought that if I went all out, I could get back up front. The first lap I got around 4 people, the second lap 1 person, the third I passed the other 2 for the lead. The track was rough, probably rougher than a GNCC track. But while everyone else was laying on the ground from their suspension throwing them over the bars, I was keeping it on two wheels with my Ohlins Coppersmith Suspension which kept me from getting tired and from crashing!
Thanks, Thom!
And Happy Birthday, Dad. It turned out to be one of those very rare perfect days!
